Although a small organization Citytri is making strides to work with community partners. We are proud to have a relationship with them and strive to make the events as meaningful for them as they are for the rest of us. Below is a list of the organizations that we work with and a brief description of our relationship.
Prospect Park Youth Council
The Youth Council is a youth empowerment leadership program, created in 1998 to address the needs of both Brooklyn's youth and the Park. With over 150 graduates, the Youth Council offers leadership skills, full access to the Youth Resource Center, the opportunity to work on Park projects, and the chance to network with Park patrons, community-based organizations, and officials from all levels of government.
New members participate in a 2-4 hours-per-week, 12-15 week training course. The training includes fun and innovative youth development activities and includes four major components:
• Leadership and Teamwork
• Understanding Prospect Park
• Civic Responsibility
• Safety and Judgment
Members learn to make their voices heard, to speak in public with confidence, to become better listeners, and to organize other youth groups. They participate in a weekend retreat, graduation celebration, a trip to the New York State Legislature, and other special events that Youth Council members help plan and organize. Graduates will also be certified in CPR/First Aid.
Citytri has had the privilege of getting to know this awesome group of youth. With us they have learned about multisport events and the impact it can have on individuals. They have helped us hold each of our Prospect Park Duathlon events. Their main event is the Prospect Park Youth Duathlon held annually in June. Together the youth and Citytri work on setting up the area, course, managing the race, awards ceremony, and then cleaning up. Citytri hopes to further develop the relationship so that these already very busy youth can have a greater role in planning and reporting the event. Through their roles we believe that they will further improve their communication, event management, marketing, and planning skills. Citytri donates equipment and time to hold the event so that eventually any profit will go to the Prospect Park Alliance. In other words, the youth will have their own event that financially contributes to their organization making them all the more valuable in their contribution to a great park and organization.
The youth are also interested in participating in multisporting events as athletes. Citytri is seeking help in trying to bring resources to these youth and their friends so that they can take the first step to fulfilling this interest. Coaches, equipment, free entries, etc. are all welcome to giving them the opportunity to also gain the experience we get out of this wonderful lifestyle sport.

PROSPECT PARK ALLIANCE
As residents of Brooklyn Prospect Park has become our back yard. For the past decade and a half we’ve watched the park grow in use and become even more beautiful. We’ve used the park for thousands of miles of biking and running and sometimes just to hear great music or have fun with family and friends. We’ve come to understand that although the park surroundings are a sight to see at any time of the year it is the people who make this park so special.
Citytri strives to give back by striving to increase the ties and contributions with the Prospect Park Alliance. Citytri strives to invite businesses to sponsor its own events by becoming a member of the Alliance. To become a business member of the Alliance and gain the benefits of sponsoring a Citytri event fill out the form at this link, , contact Alejandra Jimenez at info@citytri.com and inform her of your intentions of becoming a member with interest in being a sponsor of one of Citytri’s events.
There are so many opportunities to contribute to an organization that has maintained a great community park for all to enjoy. You can volunteer, donate, or just continue to take advantage of everything the park has to offer. We hope you find a way to contribute and that in some small way work with us to contribute towards sustaining this wonderful community park.
