The 2016 bike course was a 5.2 mile loop.
Sprint distance athletes will complete the loop 4 times and Olympic distance athletes 5 times.
The run consist of a 3.1 mile loop. The Olympic distance athletes do the loop twice and the sprint distance athletes do the loop once. You will leave the transition area through the run-out exit, turn right and head South on the boardwalk, past the Colgate Clock and U-Turn at the water station. Run back towards the transition but remain on the boardwalk and follow signs to go behind Hotel Hyatt. Continue heading North towards Avalon Harbor. U-turn and head South going around the Hyatt Hotel. At this point if you are doing the sprint you will CROSS THE FINISH LINE. If you are doing the and olympic you still have to complete a second loop. We will have cones and yellow tape to create a chute for finishers. The transition area is secured with flexible fencing and skinny scones (Height=3.5 feet). There are only 2 gates one at each end. We will keep a volunteer at each gate to make sure that only participants enter the transition area. Spectators, family and friends are NOT ALLOWED in the transition area. Please keep in mind that you must be body marked and show your bib number before entering the transition area. We marked the transition area in groups of 5. Find the corresponding row and make sure to tear off the tag on your bib and pin it to the bag you will keep at the transition area. Do not bring friends and family into the transition area or you will receive a 2 minute penalty. Please make sure you understand the flow of the transition area. It is your job to know that there is one end to enter the transition area after the swim and another one to exit the transition to proceed with the run. You will mess up your splits if you go through the wrong entrance/exit gate.
